Being your own wedding planner can add more stress to the entire process, so make sure you are ready to accept the responsibility. Acting as the wedding planner for your ceremony can be beneficial though, as it will definitely save you money, and can also save you time. Also, acting as your own wedding planner will give you even more control over every aspect of the preparations for your wedding.
As a wedding planner you need to remember to do everything as soon as possible. The sooner you get things done, the more time you will have for other things. If you need to book a location, try doing it first thing. This is one less thing you have to worry about. As you get things done, mark them off a list so you know what is done, and what has yet to be done.
Keep in mind the budget! Being your own wedding planner means you make all the financial decisions, so it is important to stay within your budget. When you come up with an overall budget, decide how much you are going to allocate to each different part of the wedding planning. Try not to exceed this amount. If you must go over that amount, be sure to subtract the appropriate amount from another item, in order to keep the same budget, or find a way to increase your budget.
Don't try to do everything yourself! When people take on the role of wedding planner for their ceremony, they have a tendency to try to get everything done alone. This is impractical. Don't be afraid to delegate a few responsibilities, as this will ease your stress level, and give you more time to get the other things done that only you can do.
Being your own wedding planner is far from easy, but it does have rewards. Because you have complete control, you get to make all the decisions. Perhaps best of all, you don't have to pay a wedding planner, so you can use that money to increase the budget for other parts of your wedding.
